(the “Company” or "UFG") (Nasdaq: UFCS) today reported consolidated net income, including net realized investment gains and losses, of $12.0 million ($0.46 per diluted share) for the three-month period ended December 31, 2016 (the "fourth quarter"), compared to consolidated net income of $30.9 million ($1.21 per diluted share) for the same period in 2015. For the year ended December 31, 2016 (the "full year"), consolidated net income, including investment gains and losses, was $49.9 million ($1.93 per diluted share) compared to $89.1 million ($3.53 per diluted share) for the same period in 2015.
